Stand Against MND
All profits from the book sales of ‘Lily and Sam’ and ‘Lily, Sam and Bertie’ will go towards the Stand Against MND charity, founded by Lily’s Uncle Sam. Sam Perkins is the Brother and Brother-in-Law, of the authors of the ‘Adventure’s of Lily’ Books. At the age of 37, he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and reacted by starting his own charity, Stand Against MND (SAM). SAM raises money to fund research towards a cure and treatments for MND and also funds palliative care for those affected by MND. All profits from the sales of this book will be donated to Stand Against MND.
If you would like to know more about SAM please follow @standagainstMND on Facebook, Instagram, Linked in and Twitter.
If Sam has inspired you and you would like to join TeamSAM to help fundraise, you can contact the charity via the social media channels above or email standagainstmnd@gmail.com
The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust
All profits from the books sales of ‘Lily’s Lockdown Birthday will go towards The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust.
The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust is a small, local charity that supports Cancer and Leukaemia services to improve cancer care for children. The charity started out providing support for the Tiger Ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich – where over the years it has funded a whole host of projects and upgrades to the facilities, services, resources and overall care that young patients, families and medical staff so critically require – above and beyond what the NHS are able to offer.
Since then, the charity has expanded to work with paediatric wards in local and major hospitals throughout London and the South East as well as the wider Oncology communities in these areas. It runs four thriving Childhood Cancer Support Groups co-ordinating regular meet-ups and activities which allow young patients to have fun together in safe, uplifting environments and give parents and siblings the opportunity to connect and share with others going through the same journey.
The charity has also launched a ground-breaking project to provide cutting-edge technology to oncology children giving them access to their education remotely and combatting the acute isolation they can suffer from.
The Lily Pad Appeal
Last year the Trust took on its largest fundraising challenge – to raise £750,000 to create a state-of-the-art Oncology Unit for the children of Croydon. The facility at Croydon University Hospital will transform the level of care that young cancer patients will be able to access in their own borough. Collaborating with the local community – residents, businesses, the local council and a range of public and private funders, the charity is pulling out all the stops to hit their target and give the children of Croydon the facilities they deserve!
